Information Security

Information security is one of the hottest “hot” buttons going these days.  Not a day goes by that we don’t read about client data being stolen from company databases.  To address this issue in the financial services sector, New York State recently implemented one of the strictest information security laws in the nation.  Insurance agencies are included in this law and all insurance agencies in the state must show compliance with the strict information security rules put into place.  INFORMATION SECURITY

At W.J. Farmer Insurance Agency, LLC, we understand that our livelihood depends on keeping client data secure and we are doing everything in our power to keep client information out of the hands of those who will use it for no good.  We have contracted with a cyber security professional to implement processes and procedures in our office to educate our employees on the various methods people use to try to hack into our systems and protective measures to guard against this intrusion.  We have had simulated “phishing attacks” to our email system to test our employees awareness of possible hacks to the system.  Our email server is encrypted so that correspondence coming and going via email through our office is protected.  Our company website has a SSL Certificate which provides a secure connection between our website and an internet browser.  It also provides encryption to any information transmitted through our website.  We have installed a new firewall software to guard against phishing attacks to our agency and potential viruses.  Inside our office, we have processes to protect client information internally.  We are a “paperless” office and use a secure shredding facility to destroy paper after it has been entered into our internal management system.  We are password protected everywhere so that any attempt to gain access to our computers is stopped immediately.  We provide constant reminders to our staff to be ever vigilant about maintaining the security of client data.

We understand there will always be new attempts to crack the system and we want to assure our valuable clients that we are doing everything we can to protect your data.  Thank you for your business.
